About C-Leanship

C-Leanship is a Danish maritime technology company delivering biofouling management as a service to the global shipping industry. We design, build, and operate ROVs that clean ship hulls and propellers — without divers, without downtime, and with full collection of biofouling waste. From hubs in Singapore, Busan, and Denmark we have completed more than 1,500 hull cleanings on vessels.

We are now in the most exciting phase of the company’s history: moving into systematic engineering investment, building the next generation of robots, and expanding into new ports.

The role

We are looking for an Engineering Project Lead to take ownership of the technical projects that build and improve our ROV fleet. This is a hands-on engineering role with project leadership baked in. You will be the person who takes a technical ambition — a new robot generation, a hydrodynamic upgrade, a new port hub deployment — and drives it from concept through suppliers and into the water.

You will work alongside our Head of ROV Development (Singapore), our Senior Mechanical Engineer (Denmark), our Supply Chain Manager (Denmark), and report directly to the CPIO.

What you will own

  • Lead end-to-end execution of major ROV development projects, including the ongoing upgrade programmes and the modular new-build programme for upcoming hubs
  • Translate engineering concepts into manufacturable, shippable, deployable hardware — working with suppliers across Europe and Asia (composites, hydraulics, winches, high-pressure pumps, control systems)
  • Coordinate cross-functional handoffs between Engineering (Denmark), ROV Development (Singapore), Operations (Singapore + Busan), and Supply Chain
  • Close the gap between as-designed and as-built, by driving the documentation, CAD discipline, and configuration control that lets us scale
  • Evaluate and integrate next-generation subsystems (positioning, autonomy, sensors, computer vision) together with our system partners
  • Be the technical interface to our most strategic supplier-partners on the ROV control system

What we are looking for

  • A degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a closely related discipline
  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in marine, subsea, ROV, or comparable demanding industrial environments. You have built physical things that operate in the real world and you understand why they fail
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects end-to-end: scoping, supplier management, scheduling, budget control, and shipping the result. Used to detailed planning and adapting as you go, and as comfortable in a workshop as in a meeting
  • Strong supplier and partnership coordination skills. You know how to brief a supplier, hold them to a lead time, and read a quote critically
  • Systems thinking — you can hold the whole robot in your head and see how a change in one subsystem propagates through the others
  • We need to move at speed, so pragmatism over perfection is essential: a robot earning revenue at sea beats a perfect robot in CAD
  • Fluent English; Danish is a plus but not a requirement
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to our hubs in Singapore and Busan

Nice to have

  • Direct ROV / AUV / subsea robotics experience
  • Experience with hydrodynamic design or CFD
  • Familiarity with positioning systems (USBL, DVL, vision-based), underwater control systems, or marine hydraulics
  • Experience scaling a hardware product from prototype into series production

You will have real ownership over the physical product that drives a company already winning in its market. We are profitable, growing fast, and at the point where every engineering decision compounds. The current upgrade programme is the first systematic performance investment in the platform in years, and the next-generation robot programme is being built modularly from the ground up. You will be central to both.

You will work in a small, direct, technically credible team where the distance from idea to water is short. Decisions get made. Things get built.

Where you will work

Køge, Denmark, which is our HQ and workshop, while it might change to Copenhagen, Denmark in the near future. Hybrid arrangement possible; on-site presence with the engineering team and workshop is expected for the core of the work.
